Plates Eatery & Catering Co., Courtenay, BC
Restyled from an old Bino's restaurant plates is decorated in automobile memorabilia; more specifically, licence plates. In my humble opinion the decor is unfortunately the best part about Plates.
I had a steak sandwich with fries ($13); the steak was small, mostly fat (not marbling) and poorly cooked. I ordered my steak medium rare and when served it was closer to black and blue. It lacked proper seasoning; in fact, I don't believe there was any seasoning at all. The fries were okay, but after about 2 minutes the bottom of my plate was so covered in blood, that everything else became soggy.
Well, at least they had free pop refills...
